Konecranes X-series crane launched in Australia

Konecranes has introduced its new Konecranes  X-series crane and S-series low headroom hoist to the Australian market during a launch event at its Smithfield facility. The introduction follows the full rollout of the X-series in EMEA and phased launches of the S-series hoist and X-series crane in other regions, supporting the company's continued focus on providing advanced and reliable lifting solutions. Customers, partners, and industry stakeholders were welcomed to see how the new technologies are designed to improve safety, efficiency and performance across a wide range of industrial environments.

The Konecranes X-series: a smart, connected crane
The Konecranes X-series crane is designed to be safe, compact and reliable. When paired with the latest S-series hoist, it supports lifting capacities of up to 20 tonnes with precise, smooth load handling. With TRUCONNECT remote monitoring, customers gain real-time insights into crane usage and condition, enabling informed decisions that support maintenance planning, operator safety and productivity optimization. The technology of the X-series crane will enable over-the-air software updates in the future, allowing new features to be introduced over time without hardware changes.

A great crane needs a great hoist
What further distinguishes the Konecranes X-series crane is the Konecranes S-series low headroom hoist. This compact hoist features excellent approach dimensions and smooth stepless lifting with a load-dependent lifting motor, enhancing the user experience and reducing cycle times. The S-series hoist is available with either a strong, lightweight synthetic rope or traditional steel wire rope, allowing customers to select the solution best suited to their application.

The hoist also features integrated Smart Features such as Hook Centering, Follow Me and Snag Prevention that work together to enhance safety and support higher productivity through more efficient load handling. Safety is further supported by a trolley-mounted safety light that provides a clear visual indication of crane movement to nearby personnel.

Commitment to sustainability
Through sustainable design and material choices, such as a more compact and efficient motor and synthetic rope, the X-series drives efficiency improvements. The optimized design, featuring a belt drive for reduced wear and a thrust rocker for hoist balancing, minimize the maintenance need and environmental impact on component level. Additionally, the implementation of inverter lifting technology ensures precise motor speed control, minimizing energy waste. With the X-series, Konecranes delivers a reliable solution while having an emphasis on sustainability. The Design for Environment (DfE) approach guided product development, aiming to minimize environmental impact throughout the product lifecycle.

Powering industry performance across Australia
"As one of the most advanced industrial and manufacturing markets globally, Australia sets high expectations for safety, efficiency, and sustainability," says James Dowe, Vice President of Industrial Service and Equipment, Pacific Region, Konecranes. "With the introduction of the Konecranes X-series crane and S-series low headroom hoist, we are delivering lifting solutions that provide our customers with more intelligence, more control and more value, both today and for the long run."

He adds: "We are proud to host this launch in our Smithfield facility, reflecting our commitment to serve customers locally with strong expertise, technical support, and digital innovation that keeps their operations moving what matters."

A strong focus on customers and commitment to business growth and continuous improvement make Konecranes a material handling industry leader. This is underpinned by investments in digitalization and technology, plus our work to make material flows more efficient with solutions that support the decarbonization of the economy and advance circularity and safety.
